WW1 Medal Card - explanation needed

Thanks both for the info. I've already found his details on CWGC.

He enlisted in 1915 - i got this from his Medal Card so that makes sense regarding the Star Medal. If only i knew where these medals were today :(

I've just got the medal card from my Grandfather's Brother from WW1. He died during the war and it appears he was awarded 3 medals - Victory, British & Star. No problems so far. The only query i have is that before the pre-printed 'Star' on the Medal card there is a handwritten '15' - anyone know what this is likely to mean?

Also - is there any way to find out further information about where he served (pretty sure it was France as that is where he is buried) and how he died?
