Hi Guys,

Trawling the BMD list on Ancestry.co.uk however there is one I need to check with a wrong image :(

Please could someone check another source for the following:

1929 q4 - H Barber married Jellis or Cox.

Just want to make sure it isnt on there before I go further back. Thanks

Tah

There lies the mystery. He had a middle initial too 'E'.

This chap and the marriage is proving to be very elusive. He isn't spoken about in the family and my grandmother passed away 9 years ago so I am having to find him alone.

The full set of "B" marriages for the last quarter of 1929 can be viewed on the FreeBMD website.

There is no Barber to a Jellis or Cox marriage listed

Which part of the country do you think the likely marriage took place?

They have a daughter born 1937 and the spouses name was Frances Louisa Jellis, so I am guessing they where married before 1937 as the daughters givern name was Elisabeth Maude Barber.

Cox was the name from Frances first marriage.

Does that make sense? Brain being to fry just loving at all these names.

Hello again Wayne :)

She was born Elisabeth Maude Barber. Her mothers maiden name was Jellis. I have also ordered a copy of her birth certificate to try and shed light on the H E Barber her mother married. The only refernce I have for him is from a press clipping of Elisabeth's marriage where her parents are refered to as 'Mr & Mrs H E Barber.

I have checked marriage records 1930 - 1938 in the names of Barber and also Cox and Jellis. Not found a thing. Beginning to wonder if they were even married.
