I have found a Hannah Schofield on the leeds death index, sept quarter, vol 9b page 245. I am looking for her death but it's a needle in a haystack. I know she died after 1881 as she is on the census then, she was born in 1845 so the age on the above index fits - would others take this as being her and go for the certificate OR is there another way of making sure before splashing out the case?!?!

Her husband was Thomas Schofield.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy

Well if you feel this is the most likely, sometimes you just have to take the plunge and buy the certificate.

Even if you looked at/could find the burial
record in the parish records it is not likely to give any extra information - unless of course you could tie it in with a monumental inscription if they were well heeled enough to afford a grave stone.

Probably less bother to send for the certificate and hope....

Gail.

You have missed the year out above, so I don't know which one you are looking at.
If you give some more information, such as where they were living on the last census you have her on, i will look on the NBI discs for you

Thanks Linda,

the one I was looking at was a death in 1895 which would mean she was 50 years old.

Her husband Tom was from Hunslet, Leeds and she was originally from Horsforth, Leeds. They lived most of their lives (and I expected until their deaths) in Kirkstall, Leeds - this is where a bit of doubt comes from as Holbeck is not a place any other family members lived.

Unfortunately there are no results for Hannah in Leeds for 1885 plus or minus five years. Kirkstall is on, but it may be the years you need are not transcribed.
Do you know when Thomas died? There are a few possible contenders in Leeds for him, but not knowing his details, I can't narrow it down

I only know that Thomas Schofield died after 1901 as he appears on the census.

Thanks for trying, Andy
