Gloria

Do you have her parents names as there isn't 1 born
Woolwich in the year or near that year

Little Lost

Little Lost Report 8 Oct 2007 14:25

no I dont. All i have is that she put her fathers name as William on her marriage but I am thinking that she made that one up as I think she was illegitimate.

Little Lost Report 8 Oct 2007 14:26

she may be listed as being born Greenwich as thats pretty much the same.

Still nothing

When did she get married, if shes on the 1901 can work backwards

Little Lost

Little Lost Report 8 Oct 2007 14:42

I have her on 1881 listed as Maria Butler then married in 1890 to William Pearson. So she is then Pearson on 1891 and 1901. As i cant find any trace of her birth I wondered if she is the one registered as Ann Butler born Greenwich 1870 but as she is missing from 1871 as well then its not a lot to go on. There is a Maria Butler on 1871 but thats not mine as she shows up on later census under her married name living with her parents.
Thanks for looking for me though. This one is going to stay a mystery for a while longer I think.

This might be the Ann Butler whose birth you found.
Doesn't look as if she's yours.

thanks Sue
no thats not her as there should also be a Charles. I guess she was illegitimate and if so then that might not even be her name at birth. Her mother could have married and the children took her new surname.

Thats the one that looks like mine at first glance but she is married to another on a later census at her parents house.

Can you give us her correct info, so we can work backwards

There are 13 Maria Pearson's on the 1891

Julie Report 8 Oct 2007 16:31

This is what i think

On the 1881 there is a Charles Butler too, found a Charles on the 1871...See Below

Charles Butler
Age: 4
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1867
Relation: Son
Father's Name: William
Mother's Name: Jane
Gender: Male
Where born: Burham, Kent, England

Civil Parish: Burham
County/Island: Kent
Country: England

Household Members: Name Age
Charles Butler 4
Eliza Ann Butler 3
William Humphrey 46
James Humphreys 20
Jane Humphreys 45

Charles and Eliza are down as Son & Daughter and both born in Burham. Now i know the age is out for Eliza to be Maria, but on the 1881 they are in a school and they might not of been to sure how old the girl was.

Here are the births for Charles and Eliza

Births Dec 1866 (>99%)
Butler Charles G Malling 2a 465

Births Jun 1868 (>99%)
Butler Eliza Ann Malling 2a 476

Actually Julie that what you have found could be theone without Maria. I have no way of knowing for sure when she was born so she could have been born after the 1871 census. AS you just said the school may not have known her real age.
So I wonder if she is registered under Humphreys

Maria and William Pearson are living in Swanscombe or Northfleet area Kent on 1891 and 1901

Hi Gloria

I did find them on the 1891 after i looked for their marriage.

I never thought to look for a Maria Humphreys, might be worth a try
