could some kind soul assist with info on david gowings parents details david was born in backfold suffolk 1791 died in 1869 poss in suffolk from those details can you trace his parents details failng this could you advise on how i can

Do you have the census results for him? He's on 41, 51 and 61 - wife Lucy.

You can look for his death yourself on the freebmd site. If you know he married or remarried after 1837, you can find his marriage and buy the certificate which will give his fathers name and occupation.

Re his baptism - youd need the parish records for that - I take it you couldnt find anything on familysearch.org?

Erith? I know it vaguely - but my gr grandfather moved there between 1894 and 1901 - Mill Road. Small world. I lived in Dartford for a few years - back in the late 70s.

still a farmer

OK - so now I'm wondering. If David Gowings was a farmer of some 300 odd acres what are the chances that his father was a farmer too?

David - you need to find out if someone has easy access to Suffolk Records Office. You might be into Landholder records or tithe records. If someone can find a Gowing(s) for the late 18th century in the area ... It might be a longshot but it could be a pointer in the right direction.
