Possible Death in Ireland?

Could anyone help please? Unable to find the death of my grandfather's first wife Alice Maud Pillifant or even Maud Pillifant (as she seemed to be Maud when she married, so could be Maud rather than Alice Maud when she died!) My grandfather re-married in 1926. Have recently found that he was in the royal artillery from 1883 to 1903 and then from 1914-18 and was after that a Chelsea Pensioner, he was able to take his wife Maud abroad with him. When he was discharged from the artillery in 1903 as unfit he was in Cork, Ireland, although his papers are stamped Dublin, so we wondered whether his first wife may have died in Ireland as there seems to be no trace of her on census or death records here. I suppose she could equally have died in Mauritius, Singapore or Malta where he was based at different times. There appears to be no mention of a death of his wife, but would there be? |

Hi Paul you've probably thought of this but have you tried getting his army records to see if it shows if he was married, widowed or what ever! this might give you some ideas of Alice's place and year of death. |

Have got grandfather's military record. Shows marriage to Alice Maud and also baptism of son Frederick William. Even his own death in 1938 when presumably his second wife sent in his pension book and death certificate. No sign of her death but neither is there any sign of it in the bmd for England and Wales. |
