	Looking for the marriage of William Henry Neat(e) of Berkshire to an Elizabeth from Ross. First child Elizabeth Neate was born c1870 in Scotland also. By 1871 they were back in England. Can do Ancestry and US lookups in return. Thanks, Rose

	Rose, I just did a search, sorry got no credits left, and getting no matches for William Neat or Neate between 1871 and 1881 Likewise no matches for a birth of Elizabeth Maureen

	Thanks Maureen. The 1871 census has the daughter born in Scotland but the 1881 says London and I've been unable to find a marriage in England for her parents or a birth for her. Rose

	Rose, Are the dates correct? Elizabeth c1880 but then you say she is on 1871 census. One match in 1870 but no credits left to view search results or images Maureen

	Are Scottish births registered in quarters like England and Wales? If they took a few days to register it that would explain it appearing in 1870. Rose

Member Since: June 2004 Posts: 1,301 Send Message	The birth will have been registered in 1870, even though the birth was in 1869, thats why it appears in that year. I have a few like that. I have one guy born in late 1855! but wasnt registered till 1856...if only they'd only registered it earlier i would have another one of those great 1855 certs.

	Knowing she was a McDonald is great. 2 of William and Elizabeth's children had the unusual name of Suter as a first or middle name.
