Joan, thank you for your reply - and I will have a look at the site you googled! However, I do know that burials were at local churchyards, not larger cemeterys. My father and grandparents are buried at St Marys in Boston Spa, very close to Thorp Arch, and within the registration district of Wetherby.

Many thanks, Christine - I will try the web site you suggest.

Can anyone help me on this one? I remember (over 55 years ago now!) going to All Saints church where my grandfather had his own personal pew. Thorp Arch is the place which figures quite a lot in the census returns for my family. Is there a grave yard there? I would really like to find out if there are any headstones for my gg grandfather or other family members (unfortunately, it is quite a common surname - Wilson, my gg grandfather was named Barnabas). Or, is there any web site I could visit to find out more? Any suggestions for further research would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Maureen (nee Wilson)
