hello christine,
ive been looking for a family on the 1901 scottish census, cant find them on scotlands people, maybe you might have luck on ancestry. the husbands name is john cairney c1852 in ireland wife is margaret same age, maiden name kerr, they have 8 children that i can confirm, mary, john, alice, hugh, patrick, margaret, joseph, catherine. i know the parents died 1920 & 1913 so they have to be on the census somewhere. would appreciate any info, and yes please pm me if you do find anything.
