Help seeking parents.

Hi,

I am having trouble finding out the names of the the parents of my G Grandfather. His details:

Harold Stanley Dance
DOB: 24/05/1903 Hartley Wintney, Hampshire.

Worth noting at this point that on his Birth Certificate he is down as Stanley Harold. Very strange.

Any help you can offer would be fab. I have full access to Ancestry.co.uk but haven't had much luck.

Hi Elouise,

Harold had a sister Called Gladys Emily L Dance born 1908, died 1990. She was also born in Hartley Wintney.

I have checked my Grandfathers birth certificate and it is showing Harold as living with his wife Jane Frances Rose (Povey) in Itchell Park Lodge in Odiham Hampshire

I don't seem to understand what you're asking. You have your grandfather's birth certificate but don't know the name of his parents? Is that right?

Update: Did you mean marriage certificate? Has it got his father's name & occupation?

If you got his birth certificate( using the index details)
It would give parents names to help locate them in 1901 census

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Harold Stanley is my G Grandfather. It is his parents I am trying to find without success.

Maybe tthe two options Judith has mention are my only decent line of enquiry. ie. Obtain etheir a marriage or Birth Certificate. I think the Marriage cert maybe the best as it will help me tie in his wife Jane F R Povey too. As she is causing me some headaches too.

Too many Poveys in Islington on 1901 census. But with all the Emmas, Franceses & Henrys I bet they're all related.

Hi Ozi,

I started looking at the Poveys in Islington this afternoon and made a list. I gave up after a couple of hours. Too many.

I guess the marraige cert is the way to go. Just got to find the marriage entry now. Not had luck their etheir. Any suggestions?
