Hi to decipher the Medal Cards, type in The Long Long Trail, that is a site for various forces, there is a section Your Tree, this will show you exactly how to decipher the different cards,

Thanks all for your help, I have followed Rutland Belle's advice and luckily enough one download got me 6 records, 3 of which were from the worcestershire regiment. Any ideas how I decipher them?

If you go to this site and click on the search box on left hand side 'First World War Medals' and then put the name in on documents on line you will come up with 2 X William T Smith, Worcester Reg . It will give you the reg number and It costs £3 to down load an image.There are more that 1 on a page so with any luck you may get both.

I am tracing my boyfriends family tree and I have got myself stumped.

William Thomas Smith married on 24th October 1912 to an Amy Jane Ling in St John, Ladywood Birmingham. They were both aged 21.

His profession / rank was: Pte 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment.
His fathers name was Frederick Smith and was a bricklayers labourer.

Is there any way of finding:
a) his birth certificate to get the mothers name
b)his war records / regiment no
