Lynn Report 6 Oct 2007 11:59

My Gt Grandmother was born Magaret Eiffe. She had a middle name but this differed on various documents. Emily, Cicely or Cecelia. Our branch of the family knew her as Margaret Cecelia. She claims to have been born in Meath, Ireland between 1835 and 1837.
The mystery is, how she ended up in the 1850's in Australia, where she was known as Margaret Eve or Eves. This is where she was supposed to marry our Gt Grandpa George Bennett but we cannot find any trace of a marriage certificate. Their first 3 children, John, Eliza and George Jr were born in NSW Australia, they then returned to Hull shortly after the birth of George Jr.
They went on to have a further 5 children, my Grandpa Edward Henry being the youngest.
Margaret was 20 years younger than George.
Can anyone out there throw some light on this, as neither myself or my researching distant cousins Marilyn and Marjorie have been able to solve the mystery of how or why they ended up in Australia.
