Can't find a Birth

Member Since: October 2007 Posts: 45 Send Message	Howdy, I am struggling to find any record of my Grandmothers birth, which I need to help shed light on her father. I have checked everywhere I can find on the net without success. Is this 'normal'? Chris

	It depends where you've searched. Most of us have problems with at least one of our ancestors ! Give a few details, ...name, approx date and location and others will try to help. Gwyn

	depends on the date she was born you may need to search the Full birth records on Ancestry or Find my Past. Shirley

Elisabeth Maude Barber Born: 08/12/1937 Place: Unknown Died: 05/11/1998 Place: Farnham Surrey Mothers maiden name is thought to be Barber as she reverted to it after being to married to a chap name Cox. Her Mother was born in August 1886 in Basingstoke. I have more on her mother if you need it. Thanks again.

	There was a registration in Christchurch in March Q. 1938 for an Elisabeth M. J. BARBER 2b 1061 Mother's maiden name JELLIS Gwyn

	there isnt one reg in Dec qtr 1937 the only showing is reg mar qtr 1938 .which is poss cos you have six weeks to register a birth,. Mar qtr 1938 Elisabeth M.J Barber mmn Jellis, Christchurch 2b 1061, There isnt one coming up with a mmn maiden name of Barber or Cox

	Chris, The only way to find out the father is to obtain a copy of birth certificate. Sue
