I'm needing some help please, if anyone can.I can't find any records of my grt grt grandfather. No bc or dc.Have no idea with Irish records as I don't know of his parentage,I'm assuming his d0b would be from 1855 (or earlier) to 1860.He married Anastasia Ryan in queensland australia in 1882.Anasatsia ryan was born 1860 in goulburn new south wales australia. I know he was not transported unless very young with convict parents, shipping details only mention such and such with wife or family not stating other christain names,I'm a beginner so I'm stumped
Thanks Leith

Hi Leith

On the following website I found a couple of their children.

http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/bdm/IndexSearch.htm

Have a look there could be more. The prefix C indicates that both of these births were in the country i.e. outside Brisbane.

1882/C001390
Gleeson Patrick William
Father John
Mother Anastatia Ryan

1884/C001830
Gleeson Michael
Father John
Mother Anastatia Ryan

Perhaps if you contact them they will be able to tell you where the children were born in Queensland. This will narrow your search down. You can email your enquiries to the Registry at this address: [email protected].

Or maybe some other GR Australian member may be able to assist your further.

In the meantime I will do a bit more searching to see if I come up with anything.

All the best with your research

Oh Helen
your a whiz how did you get that.I could only get into Moreton bay and nsw,but I suppose more pratice and I'll be able to soon. I find this exciting but extremely frustrating as sooo many Gleeson's with similar dob put my hand in the hat I think. We were very distant family and no-one knew anything and of course all the oldies are gone I think there maybe a big secret,as they did all seem to be secretive and stern, pop and dad cracked a smile but the ladies, stern upright overly regilous, supose they had to be to deal with the drunken gamlbers Ha! thanks Leith

Found this is the Qld deaths

1910/C003443 Gleeson Michael Kenneth John Joseph Gleeson Anastasia Ryan

Patrick William Gleeson, son of J Gleeson served in WW1 - digital copy of records is available on the National Archives website - it says he enlisted in Sydney, but father lived in Dalby Queensland. Patrick was discharged in Sydney. NSW BDMs show a death for Patrick W Gleeson father John in 1935 (53years, no mother listed).

Hi Again Leith

If you can find John Joseph Gleeson's death, his death certificate should tell you how long he had been in Queensland and where he was born.

His marriage cert might tell you his fathers name, but sometimes that did not get filled in.

Hello Di,
Thanks! Yes I knew of michael kenneth's death.but some good news about Patrick as I couldn't find him either and of course the other children marriages are no shown on bdm history index (freebi) after jane as they were too young .great news I must look up bdm nsw to see if I can find whether patrick had family.I can't seem to get into and understand national archives will have another go.
.thanks Di.
