Do you know that he married in Yorkshire?

If so, the YorkshireBMD website may be of interest to you.

Doing a quick search for BURDON (and likely variants) there are several marriages which may fit.
If you exclude all the BURTON and BARTOn hits then you are left with these:

Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1927
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
BARDEN George W CROSS Margaret M Doncaster Register Office Doncaster DON/68/77

Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1931
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
BURDON George BRADLEY Eliza Leeds Registered Building Leeds RB/265/206

Do you have the names of any of their offspring?

The Yorkshire BMD can be found at:

http://www.yorkshirebmd.info/

Several other counties have BMD websites which can be a useful alternative to the FreeBMD site and GRO indexes.

See: http://www.yorkshirebmd.info/

Select the county of interest on the dropdown menu on the left of the page.
