I would be interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything about the Isgrove family of Bruton and surrounding villages, Somerset.
My maternal great grandfather was John Isgrove, born 1866 in Penselwood, Somerset. He may be the son of William Isgrove, born 1825 in Bruton and living there at the 1901 census. the 1901 census lists the following children: Walter b1887, Annie b1889, Edgar b1890, Blanch b1891, Maud b1893, Percy b1895, Edith b1897, Martha b1898, Violet b1901. There was at least one younger daughter, Lily or Lillian (I knew her as "Aunty Lil" although she was in fact my great-aunt).
I believe that all the male members of the family remained in Somerset during their adult lives. The females, however, spread more widely. Maud married a Liverpool busman, Ernest Arnold, and had at least two daughters. Martha (always known as Pat) went to Liverpool to help her sister with mthe birth of her first child. She remained in Liverpool and met and married a police constable, Harold Kirkpatrick Robson. They had three daughters, the middle one of whom, Marjorie kirkpatrick Robson,(1925-94) was my mother. Martha/Pat later moved to Scotland with her eldest daughter's family and died in Dunfermline in 1970. lily married a Bristol aircraft engineer, Fred White, and they lived many years in Sheffield before returning to Bristol after World War 2. They had one son, Brian, who I believe mstill lives in Bristol and also worked in aviation.
I know nothing of the other members of the family. My mother often talked fondly about her uncle Percy, who was ny gran's favourite sibling. I believe that Violet amy have reached age 100 in 2001 but cannot confirm this.
I would be grateful for any information about these people and their descendents. Any of them reading this are related to me! Also if anyone knows about the ealier members of this family, I would be very interested.
