Marriage record question

"Of this parish" doesn't neccesarily mean she was born in the parish, only that it was her residence at the time of the marriage - although at that date people didn't move about too much, so she may well have been born there.

Thank you all,

Another clue revealed, she did have parental consent, that's why I wonder about the age.

OTP - Of this Parish.

Under age 21 parental consent was required in 1825. However don't be suprised if you find a bride or groom telling fibs :)

On the record I meant to say

otp = of this parish.

You had to be 21 to get married without parental consent, although people often told lies about their ages.

I have marriage record for 1825 Westerfield, Suffolk.
Can anyone tell me what otp stands for, and what age can you get married without the parents consent?

Thank you
