William/Wm Babb -Laundry . I have him in a street directory in 1906 at The Toll House Alphington Road Alphington Exeter Devon. This the address given on my Grandads birth cert (Dec 1905) but I can't work out what William Babb has to do with it or why she was there! She worked at a doctors across the road from there and was back there working a month after the birth. Just wondered whetehr William Babb was a longtime resident of the address and who was with him in 1901 might give a clue. It is near Sydney road /place and Ebrington road if thats any help to anyone-thanks. Please can someone help-its also next to the GWR stores building.Any help appreciated

Sorry i worded it badly. My grandad was caled Reginald Sargent his mum was Ellen sargent who worked at fairfield House Alphington road and had him across the road at The old Toll house in 1905. At this address in 1906 is William babb. I just wanted to know who else was there in 1901 as to give an idea why she (An unmarried mum ) would have gobe there to give birth. Also the people who took in my grandad reg lived in babbs court along the end of the village-just wondered if there was a connection. Sorry to be vague

That willliam obviously wouldn't be old enough to be in the directotyr in 1906 but a realitve could be-maybe one who was called by a middle name-Thanks I shall have to keep thinking.
