Hi I have an death cert for my graet gran-but the address given on it in the street directory for the same ya=ear gives the name of an unrelated man!! Any ideas please.? My great gran was married then and her mother was the informant.

well people moved around a lot . most lived in rented accommodation and there was multi occupancy.

If the date was before women had the vote then only the men of voting age would show on the register.

I can think of a couple of possibilities:

The directory would have taken from information maybe 1 or 2 years previous than the actual year of issue/publication.

The death certificate shows the place of death ie did she die away from her normal place of residence?

Is the address of the informant different to the one you're questioning?

What year are we talking about and I can look at what I have for that year or similar to compare?
