and also a the possible death of their daughter ELLEN SUTTON born 1885 in Shilton , as she appears in the '91 census but not the '01

It is entirely possible she just wasn't home on the day of the census.. have you checked all the granparents reports for 01 to see if she was staying there at the time the census was done?

She'd have been 16/17 in 01 was she married already? In service?

I can't find a relevant birth for 1885?
