A lot of Ireland’s records were destroyed in the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin during fighting between the Black & Tans and the IRA.

Try the following website for details of Donegal census records for 1901 and 1911 also cemetery records in alphabetical order and emigration records to America, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. There are records for schools on the website. Good luck with your search.

Would the Irish Family History Society have records for 1928 ish as i'm trying to find My Grandfathers Birth record? And his marriage record too.

I guess it would be worth a try would'nt it?

Hope so! As ive searched every website possible so far! And found nothing on Irish birth records.

I tried to find out about my Irish Gt Grandmother a while back, all I knew is she came from Ireland and her maiden name. I e-mailed the Irish Family History Society at [email protected] and they replied with.......

Civil registration of BMD did not commence until 1864 except for non Catholic marriages which started in 1845. for records prior to to this you have to rely on Church records and you need to know the religious denomination of the ancestor and some idea of where they came from in Ireland.
They said my Gt.Grandmothers name (Buckley) was quite common in Ireland mainly around Cork, and it would be an almost impossible task for a researcher without knowing the Parish where the ancestor was born. Also no passenger lists were required for travel between Ireland and England because in those days it was travel with the same political entity
It might be worth an e-mail to them, you may have more luck as you are looking for more recent records.

I'm trying to find some (well a lot) info on the Irish side of my family, but don't seem to be having much luck. Does anyone know if there are any websites for irish births/marriages/deaths? Because information is so thin on the ground at the moment, I'm looking for 20th century records
