Heather - sorry!!

I don't think there were any children before Jessie in 1857and Agnes in 1852 as his will only mentions them.

I think Elizabeth died giving birth to Jessie as there is a death registered in the same 1/4 in 1857

Hi Jill

I don't really have a lot of info on Elizabeth but have a possible birth for her in 1812 so that would make her roughly 6 years older than Alexander.

Jen

Yes that's the earliest record I can find and that's his second wife - he did remarry he had 3 wives in all!!!

Gawd, theres a lot of them, do we know any kids names for the 1851? is that the right one for 1861 or not - if so, is that a second wife or have we the wrong name?

There's one born in Dunfermline and one born in Canongate, Edinburgh - born about the right time with wife Elizabeth. Don;t know Scotland so not sure how near/far these places are!

Any idea of age of Elizabeth?

I am looking for :

Alexander Wallace Wilson, born c 1818, I think in Galston, Ayrshire

I have him on the 1861 english census living in Gorton, Lancs (age 43) but can find no trace of him prior to this in England.

He married Elizabeth Weir in 1844 in Kilmarnock so she would be on 1851 but not 1841

would be grateful for any help in breaking down this latest brick wall!
