Stacy

An alternative for you to try would be to contact the local paper for Banstead. I believe the Croydon Advertiser covers it. (I used to live in the area).

I'm unsure about ordering recent death certs from GRO - you can but try.

She would be about the right age.

hi sophi
she may well be...
thier son Gordon Arthur was born 21 march 1950.

norah seemed to have connections with the church st davids manse in kirkintilloch, gordon was christened there,
i wonder if they moved back to bonny scotland, they were still living in banstead in july 1963.
i have a clipping from a newspaper reference to a George Millar- husband and our father , passed away oct 1961 from families in kirkintilloch and surrey..
i am going to have a look on scotlands people and see what i can find..

Might this be a relevant death record? Sutton is very close to Banstead:

Eleanor Ann N Young 2 Sep 1917 Nov 2000 83 Sutton Surrey

Angela

The death cert will give name & address of the informant.

hi sophie
thankyou for the reply
i too looked on bt, they might of gone to scotland as they were married there, also son was christened there.
i have put a snippet in the tips board, maybe i should of chosen one board.
there is a certificate of proclamation , i take this to be marriage cert,
eleanor ann nugent millar of Ballindean ?, kirkintilloch
marries derek william young, 16 revel rd, surrey
on the 14/08/1946.

i guess they met during the war, eleanor was stationed in bombay as i have her military pass, inoculation cert, mess bill, pay slip etc.

they brought a piece of land in banstead in 1949, i have the building license from banstead council.
also the plot and even a photo of it, address is garratts lane, banstead.

someone somewhere...

Must belong to someone....i have found 2 scrap books regarding the above people.found at a car boot sale.( i have put a thread on tips board) with lots of invaluable information in them,

i have been on freebmd and family search but to no avail. i want to return these scrap books to thier family.

gordon arthur young dob 21/03/1950 at hazledean nursing home in leatherhead.
parents eleanor e.n millar (norah) from kirkintilloch, glasgow.
derek w young

they lived in surrey from 1950 in Banstead.

i dont really have much to go on,
hope someone may be able to help me.
i thought if i had gordons marriage, thats if he did marry, it might help, so i can at least find an area where they were and maybe an electoral roll search,

thankyou for your time
