I am seeking information on my grandmother Mary Lawlor nee Frazer born Fosters Yard Hexham June 20th 1901, father William mother Mary nee Sculley. I think my grandmother may have been raised in a children's home or poss Hexham Workhouse and had siblings named Elizabeth, Jimmy, Jack, Dan, and Mattie. any information welcomed

it's difficult for us to tell you much more.


The latest census that we can see is the 1901.

The 1911 census will be released for viewing and use around January 2012 (there is a 100 year rule on releasing the information).


so we don't really have anywhere to look to see if she was in an orphanage or not.



and the names of her siblings are difficult .......it looks as though Mattie is a shortening for somehting, but what (???Matilda), same with Jack, Dan and Jimmy. But of course it is not necessarily so, as they could have been named with the shortened version!

not sure I was thinking William & Mary from Workington, but don't have anything to base that on! as gran's birth June 1901 don't suppose that you have access to 1911 cencus?

if the 1889 marriage is correct .. it does look like a second marriage as Kate was born in 1881 and James in 1879

Because of the 100 year rule, we can't see the 1911 census until 2011/2012 .
Unless you have an actual address...but then it costs I think about £40.!!!!!!
