Hi if anyone would be willing to take some time to help me i would be very grateful.

I'm looking for a birth,marriage or death record for a LESLIE COPPERWHEAT, born c1928, male. Lived in Bedford, Beds but was possibly born in Coventry as his sister Pauline was born there in 1931. He disappeared from the Bedford area when he was about 21 and so I don't have hardly any info on him. Parents were ernest copperwheat and edith nee dracup. It is possible that his names are spelt differently I suppose.

Have looked from 1927-1930 and can't find his birth. Do you know when the parents married - was he born before that so would be registered in mother's name?

Pauline's mother's maiden name is Dracup so they can't be brother and sister. She was born in Foleshill.

Possible that the Pauline you say is his sister may be his wife.

His sister Pauline d. is my nan, she was born in Coventry in 1931.

Their parents were Edith nee Dracup b.1901 and Ernest Copperwheat b1896.

I'm not sure when they married.

I don't know if he was a soldier, our family doesn't seem to know much about him and my nan(his sister) passed away years ago. I think there was some kind of 'issue' that caused his disapperance.

I have looked through the death index have checked 1942-1978 and there is nothing.

However I do wonder if he disappeared, whether the person who registered his death would have known his full name to register him properly, with death index you are reliant on the person who registers it.

What also about looking at possibility of immigration?

Yes it's possible he could have emmigrated and also possible that he changed his name I suppose! how would i go about seeing if he's emmigrated? i wouldn't know where to begin!
