That looks promising.

I hope Helly comes back and sees all the hard work that has been done.

Well done Marg. And yes I agree he did seem a bit old to be playing around but maybe he never thought he'd become a dad at his age.

First marriage for May?
Harry Bullock married Mary A. Plant, Dec. Q, 1919, Walsall. (6b 1739)

OK, so I'm an old fogey questioning someone having a child 5 years before they married! It's just that he seemed a little old to be "fooling around".
Here are the details from the 1901 census:
Piggott St., Cannock, Staffordshire
George Parton, head, widower, 56, coal miner, born Staff., Prince's End Summerhill
William, son, 35, coal miner, born Staffs., Prince's End Terrace
Ann, dau-in-law, 32, born Staffs., Norton Canes
Eliza, grandau, 9, born Staffs., Wimblebury
Elizabeth, grandau, 7 months, born Wimblebury
Elisha, son, 17, brickyard labourer, born Wimblebury

but my paternal gran didnt marry till 3 years after her first child was born to her 2nd hubby, He registerd two births as if they were married but they didnt marry till 1914,I suspect cos he was in the Army for WW1 and they needed to be married so he could send her home his Army pay.
Did happen that births were reg as if parents were married tho they werent.
Maybe he wasnt able to marry sooner cos he was still married!!

But, but, Elizabeth Parton was born 1942 with mother's maiden name Plant! They didn't marry until 1947?

the only marriage I,ve found is Dec qtr 1936

Elisha Parton to Chrstiana Burton Wakefield 9c 155.

Now if she was a widow then her maiden name could have been Plant!!

Is this his death

June Qtr 1969
Elisha Parton dob 02/02/1884
Burnley, Vol 10b, Page 1819

This would tie in with the first Elisha found by Margaret on the census.

Are you saying that Elisha was born in the 1870's or 80's and had a daughter in 1942?
So he was 62 or 72 when she was born?
There are only 3 Elisha Partons on the 1901 census, all in Staffordshire.
1-Born 1884, Wimblebury, son of George.
2-Born 1877, Tipton, son of Phoebe.
3-Born 1873, Tipton, husband of Martha.

I am trying to locate my 'grandfather-in-law' in the records but not having much success.

All i know is he was born in around the 1870's or 80's, moved from shropshire/Staffordshire to Burnley lancashire, where he married and had a daughter called Elizabeth in 1942, I think his wife was called May, but I'm not 100% sure

any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance

Helly
