You can get it from www.gro.gov.uk

You need to use the reference numbers provided by Steph and it will cost you £7.

This may make me sound really stupid but can you tell me where i can buy that from?

Sam

Sam Report 4 Sep 2007 17:53

You need to buy the marriage certificate, using the reference that Steph gave you.

Then you will know both fathers names plus the age of the bride and groom when they married. Then you can look for their birth registrations.

Hi

bmd is short for birth, marriages and deaths.

There is a death for a Johann Trepak on Ancestry.co.uk he was born 1st May 1925 and he died in Huddersfield in March 1985 The details are

Name: Johann Trepak
Birth Date: 1 May 1925
Death Registration Month/Year: Mar 1985
Age at death (estimated): 59
Registration district: Huddersfield
Inferred County: Yorkshire
Volume: 4
Page: 1620

If you let me know the details of your parents marriage - names and dates I will look them up on ancestry for you. It might take me a while as I am about to cook dinner

Thank you so much, i have never thought about looking before so i am not sure what bmd is?

My parents seperated when i was one and i had no contact with my birth father so i have no way of getting hold of any marriage certificate!

I know that he was the son of a polish man called Johan and that he fled Poland in the war as a young boy and never returned that is all i know

Hi

The best way to start is with your parents birth and marriage certificates. These will show their parents names and the place they were living.

Have checked on Ancestry and Free BMD and there are no records other than phone book and bmd in recent years

Hope this helps
