Hi Karen, There's quite a bit about Dunmow Union Workhouse if you google it. That one appears to have only just been built...1840. There's a museum there also (in Dunmow)....try them too, good luck :0)))

Mary Witney widowed in 1834 High Easter children of above Eliza 1827 High Easter Sophie 1829 High Easter Joseph 1831 High Easter Ann, illegitimate daughter of Mary Witney, 1834 I believe that the 1851 census is missing so maybe the 1841 may show them. Obviously the girls will be harder to track so I think that I will have to trawl the marriage index, but maybe someone willbe able to locate Joseph on the later censuses. The was another brother Simon, he was transported to Tasmania in 1852. Any help appreciated.
