Alison Unlikely as it may sound, I believe that 'Valentine' is Albertina. Maybe the enumerator misheard & subsequently put male. Age 8 could also have been misread as 3. I have been unable to find a birth or death record for Valentine Cooper in the right area, nor another census appearance. What do you reckon? btw, mother Jane on the 1871 family comes from Yorkshire, as on the 1881 one. Angela

Hi Alison, I'd get the marriage cert to make sure her fathers' name is who you think....as I have found an Albertiner Cooper born 1862 in Derbyshire with parents William and Sarah Ann Cooper :0(((. Cant find anything near an Albertina with parents Charles and Jane.

Hiya yes they did have a daughter Albertina. I saw the nurse one but I thought she was born in Durham but if they moved when she was only a baby she would only remember Durham? Thanks for all your help alison.

On the 1881 census she is in Derbyshire as a nurse at the Holywell St Chesterfield Hospital. Born 1862 age 19. RG11 piece 3432 folio 9 page 12. Still as Albertina Cooper, as she didn't marry till oct qtr.

yep we think that is her parents because it says her parents came from around the Derby area..and that is her with her husband. but not there in 1871..alison
