Jennifer

Just bear in mind to avoid confusion that if they married in Ireland in 1916 then they WERE married within the UK.

If you know that your ancestor married a soldier actually in the army then this will be found in the Regimental Indexes on FindMyPast or if you live near London these books are in the FRC, These Indexes go back to the late 1700's and include all marriages and births within the Army. I found one Irish Marriage and one Irish Birth in the 1860's by consulting these Indexes. Janet

Trying to find some details for my great grandmothers marriage to a soldier from Leeds. She was called nora fishe (b.1897, Dublin). He was called Edward Higo (b. 1880, Leeds). I know that they married during ww1,(probably 1916) and i've tried to find details of their marriage within the uk, but without success. I'm convinced they married in ireland anyway, but does anyone know how i can find out without actually going to ireland?! Please help - this is doing my head in!
