In the 1901 census there were 34 Refoys, 2 Gelks and 34 Furbears. The Refoys were mainly from Kent and Sussex. Most of the Furbears were from Devon, some from London, a couple from Somerset. The Gelks (Edwin and Thomas) seemed to be totally unrelated. From that I would assume that the rest of them had been wrongly transcribed. Jan. |

Hi In the 1891 census there seem to be only 7 Gelks- 6 are in Essex and one in Warwickshire 29 Refoy's - mainly born in Sussex, mostly still in Sussex, some in Kent, Hampshire and a couple of other counties. 14 Furbear's - mainly from Culmstock in Devon If you would like more details please email me. Good luck Michele |
