Hi Terence I live not far from the Woking Records Centre. What do they have well nearly everything for Surrey, church records, original and fiche, some have been transcribed and in books mostly before 1830 but all the others are on fiche, censuses, 1841-1901, early local newspapers, maps and Electrol Roll Book. Lots more that I still haven't had a chance to look at. If you find anything you want copied they can do that as well. They are very nice there and will show you were everything is and how is all works. Just make sure you have some identification with you or if you have a Surrey library card that will do. Its a new centre so nice and light with plenty of room. There is parking at the back of the centre, be careful of the humps in the road, and a rest room but you will have to take your own food. There is a pub just down the road if you want more. 20p for the locker and pencils only. Its not far from the Station if you are going by train. You should be able to get a map of the site but if not do street map with their post code Email me if you want to know more |

It is always worth checking what records they have before you go though. I assumed they would have 1871 census for Richmond - which as far as I am concerned is still in Surrey, although probably now classed as Greater London. It was not a wasted journey as I had other things to look up - but does seem odd considering they have Parish records for Richmond. |

If its on the edge of Surrey then its worth asking as they can't buy all the censuses. I know the London ones are not there and some around the Camberley area. Irene |

I'm glad I found this link as I was thinking of taking a trip there. I live in Epsom so not too far away. Naomi |
