PONTON - do you recognise this name?

Have you the name PONTON in your family tree. I can find no record of the name anywhere. Other spelling variations are dotted around but none with the correct first name. I have birth/marriage certs so know it should exist but find only walls and barriers. Can you help? Gill |

There are a lot in Wilts 1851,mainly Warminster. Are they of interest? There are also over 200 on 1881 census. |

I have tried looking on the 1901 census for the area of London I knew they came from but they are not listed. Without this info I cannot go back any further as I have no other name link. I did try Pontin but that didn't shed any light either. I think I shall have to wait for the 1911 census for that particular branch. |

I know Lilian Ruby Ponton was born in 1910 and on her marriage certificate her father is named as Ernest William Ponton (caretaker) listed at Westminster Bridge Road on her birth certificate. His job in 1910 was Restaurant Porter. Her mother was Ruby Isabella Ponton (formerly Edwards) I have come up blank with any connection between the parents even on 1901 I guess this info is recent to find out anything further. |
