Have you resorted to the 1851 census yet? A lot of local family history societies seem to have already indexed those. Searching the whole country isn't practical, but you could start with where he says he was born & where you know he lived (& where he married?) Whichever age you take from the 71&81 censuses he should have been around in 1851. Pauline.

Hi, This is the problem on his Marraige cert. in 1871 it says he was 24, ten years later on the 1881 census it says he was 44 so he seems to have aged 10 yrs. Him and his wife were living in Edmonton North London, they had a baby ib 1889 and by the 1891 census she is a widow, Edmonton records have done a search for him but nothing. The point is I can't even find a birth cert. for him. He was born in Haverhill Suffolk but moved to Edmonton before the 1881 Census. His wife name was Emma. I think I am stuck thankyou Margaret

How old would he have been, and the area. Will see what we can do for you. Irene

Could a death really go unrecorded, as I have been looking for a death for 18 months, looked everywhere. its for a William Poole whom died between 1889-1891, although I have found plenty for this name none of them appear to be him. any ideas. Margaret.
