If anyone has the 1851 census for Hampshire would they please look up for me: William Duffin born 1830 Horton Heath Hants probably living with his Father in Horton Heath area. He didn't marry until 1857 When he married Ann Webster from Highgate Middx. He was my Gt gt Grandfather. Many thanks Ann Glos |

Hi I can't find Horton Heath Hants in the index, it may have been a small parish, I have look on the map still can't find where is it near. Irene |

ThanksIrene - I have e mailed you but here is what I said. Horton Heath is in what was known as South Stoneham. I go through it every time I visit my daughter. It is actually between Botley and Colden common, near Fair Oak. Trouble is South Stoneham covers a huge area I think and there were several Duffins in the area, not all mine as far as I know but probably related at some point. My Gt Gt Grandfather William as I said was born 1830 Horton Heath, I have the family bible, his father on his marriage certificate (1857) was William Duffin butcher. He was married in the parish of Botley. Is that any help? Thanks again |
