Just been having a look to see if I coul help. I think I have found him in 1891 living with Mary sttill in High Street, Holy cross. If you still have access to 1891 it's on page 18, Holy Cross distict 10. Can send it if you don't have it. Jo |

If it was him, he wasn't living with them - he had his own family living also in Holy Cross. Sorry if I misled you. |

Geoff Many thanks for the 1901 info. I was not sure if it was the same William Houghton as the one I was after but with you giving me the son's name it certainly looks like the one I was after. Karen |

1901 William (53) and Mary (65) living in Holy Cross, Pershore - did he ever leave? One of the Need sons is still there, William (37). I can't find any of the others. I suppose you knew all of this already anyway. |

Hi Tony Unfortunately I am not sure. I have come across a mystry that I would like to solve. William Houghton on 1881 is with Mary Need who he later marries. But in 1891 I think the same William Houghton is living in B'ham with Elizabeth as his wife, her sons their sons as a couple and Alfred James Need who is listed as Mary Need's son on 1881. My feeling is that as there are 2 William Houghtons born in Pershore listed on 1881 I may be getting them confused OR William was a bigamist or just telling fibs? Many thanks for looking Tony, it is appreciated. Karen |

Could someone with 1881 census CD please double check an entry for me please. On the LDS site I have found William Houghton born 1843 in Pershore, Worcester living at High St, Pershore Holy Cross, Worcester RG11/ 2929/65. On this he is living with his housekeeper Mary Need and her sons. It states that William Houghton is married. Could someone with the CD check that it is m for married and not w for widowed. I only ask as not long after the census William married the housekeeper and if he was married at the time of the census I wonder what happend to his wife. Many thanks Karen |
