Find Ancestors

Thanks for that Tony. Having now checked out this further the problem is getting worse. Mike (possible new cousin) knows the father of his rellie Thomas Colley (c.1832) was John as it's on the marriage certificate. I checked the 1851 and found the family mentioned above and though it must be Mike's. I have now looked on IGI for births of Thomas Colley and there are 3 with father John born 1831/32. So I'm not even sure now that it's the right family. Thomas' mother could be Mary, Jane or Catherine. Think I'll just have to give up on this one as there are too many possibilities.

Hi Helen, got this marriage from VRI 2nd edition, COLLEY, John Marriage Wife: Mary HARRISON Marriage Date: 3 Aug 1829 Recorded in: Broseley, Shropshire, England Collection: St Leonard Source: FHL Film 992079 Dates: 1813 - 1830 there are other for the latter half of previous century but this is the only one in your timeframe.If you want the rest just give me a e-mail,Regards Tony

I have been contacted by someone who has traced his family back to John Colley in Dawley, Shropshire. The 1851 Dawley Census has John 49, married to Jane 42, living with their children Enoch 22, Thomas 18 and Mary Ann 9. In my tree is a William Colley born 1803. His father was Isaac (per IGI) and he had a brother John born 1799. I really need to find the marriage details for John and Jane in the hope John's father is named as Isaac and I can claim a new 'cousin'. IGI records show two John Colleys born around this time (1799 & 1800) There's nothing on LDS site and their records are pretty good for that time and area. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might find details of this marriage, which was probably around 1828?
