I really thought I was on a roll!! I got the marriage certificate for Denis McAuliffe and Mary Coughlin dated 1888. So I thought I would order the birth cert for Mary. As I had her father's name as James and I knew they were from the Rhymney/Bedwelty area of Wales. I found Mary's birth on free BMD as Dec 1865 but I have received back a cert for Mary CoughlAn born June 1865, father James and living actually in Rhymney (spelt on cert Rumney). I rang the Tredegar office and they said they checked and this was all they had and cos Mary or her family couldn't read or write the spellings were sometimes different. Can anyone help. Would I need to check the GRO index. I have been told free BMD is unreliable. There is that 1837 site?? I am so confused!!

Hi Lauretta. I do not want to cause any confusion but have picked up a Mary Coughlin on the 1891 census Same area Parish Bedwelty District Rhymney. But note this Mary was not married at the time Aged 30. I do have other info of who was living at the address. 24 Manest. street. This includes this mary's mother a widow plus others. If it helps let me know. Leon
