TRYING TO FIND A MARRIAGE FROM ABOUT 1954-ONWARDS

Hi Kelly When you go into marriages on 1837 on line you need a rough date to go by and then it is alphabetical. so - if you were looking at 1954, you would be given the opportunity to ask for a search in say the march quarter (covering Jan, Feb, March to the December quarter, covering October, November, December. Then you have to input the first three letters of the surname. By the way you have to pay before you get to this stage by buying a number (£5) of units by credit card. It costs 10p a page to search so you need to try and limit the pages because it soon mounts up. A page will come up which gives the choice of which pages you want to search - this page is free. When searching you also really need to know the registration district as this is how you differentiate between others of the same name. The idea is that you search for one name of the couple, when you find a likely match, either save the page or print it off because you will need to know the ref numbers at the right hand side. Then search alphabetically for the other partner. Hopefully you will find him or her with the same registration district and reference numbers. Then you have a match. I don't know how far forward free BMD goes but have you tried there? I have checked and Free BMD doesn't go as far as 1954 - shame. Ann Glos
