Hi Leigh The births you found are right - they are Edwin and two of his children....Thanks As for the Grosvenor you found, he would be too old. As Irene who I am assuming he married was born 1900 and she had my grandfather and his twin in 1924. Regards, Siobhan |

No Idea on Grosvenor All I know is his name Grosvenor Ashford Clarke. and that he and my great grandmother Irene Clarke (formerly Littlejohns) are named on the birth cert for my Grandfather who was born 1924. I have traced Irene family, nothing on Grosvenor as I have been unable to find a marriage. As for Edwin born c1857 he was from the London Bloomsbury area. I suppose it is possible he was in another country at time of 1881 census, as he was a stage carpenter the same as his father. His father is Edwin Littlejohns born c1830 in Plymouth, Devon. I have found him in all the census' Regards, Siobhan |

Hi Leigh Hope you get this b4 you go to work, I have the Littlejohns in the 1861 census, that was one of my more luckier years. Also have the Edwin's family I am looking for in the 1891 and 1901 census. It is just the 1871 and 1881 census that I cannot find him. |

These Littlejohns are proving to be a difficult bunch. The enumerators are not great at transcribing the name Littlejohns. So far I have had: Littlejohn Littlestone Litteyolm Johns (little as middle name) THE LIST GOES ON. Not Having as much trouble with the Littlejohns as much as my G Grandfather Grosvenor Ashford Clarke though, he is my real nightmare. He just doesn't seem to exist apart from on my Grandfathers birth certificate. No idea of his date of birth, or where he was born. I am not giving up on him though, he will turn up one day. I HOPE |

Hi Jo On the 1891 census he is transcribed as Edwin Little John so the surname is John for some reason they thought Little was his middle name LOL he is 32 in 1891 and a stage carpenter. He is the son of my G G G Grandfather Edwin Littlejohns. |

I have been trying to find my great great Uncle Edwin Littlejohns born c1857 in Bloomsbury his wife is Leonora Gertrude Littlejohns (formerly Peakome) born c1859 Bloomsbury but appears as first name Gertrude in census' I have found her in. Children in 1881 would be Emily Gertrude Littlejohns born c1879 Bloomsbury Horace Edwin C Littlejohns born c1880 Bloomsbury I have found them in the 1891 census as surname Johns, they obviously transribed Edwin as middle name Little. Then in the 1901 census they are Littlejohn without the S. I have searched and searched the 1881 census and cannot find them anywhere. They married in 1877, so are definately together, so thought i would see if a fresh pair of eyes might find them, i am making myself dizzy now. |
