Hi Jackie. This might be your Kitson family in the index to the 1861 census for Sheffield & Rotherham. All of them are shown as born in Sheffield. William 27 Sarah A 25 Deborah 3 Mary A 2 Edith A 5 months Doesn't help with tracing Sarah though, except to narrow her birth down to Sheffield. Marian

There are virtually NO marries for 1855-57 transcribed and very few births between 1854 and 1858. Go to the FreeBMD homepage and follow the link to the transcription data.

Today I received a birth certificate for 1857 and the maiden name of the mother is given as Sarah Ann Tilney. husband William Kitson. They were both from Sheffield (Ecclesall Bierlow). However, in spite of searching Family search and free bmd I am unable to find a marriage or a birth for Sarah. She was born around 1836 according to census transcripts. I have found a marriage for a William Kitson to a Sarah Wilson for Rotherham in 1854. Could this be the one? First known child was born in 1857. Please can anyone help? Jackie
