Hoecks in Kent - Help needed to find Mary Louise

William Hoeck born in London, Middlesex in c1820, married to Sarah b c1837 in Cork, Ireland are the parents of my ggrandmother Mary Louise Hoeck b c1869 (possibly Maidstone, Kent). The problem is that I cannot seem to find Mary Louise Hoeck on the 1881 or 1891 censuses. I know that she was married and living in India in 1901. In 1881 the Hoecks are living at 29 Marsham St, Maidstone, one of the children is Louisa b c1870, could this be her? On FreeBMD, there are only a handful of Hoecks including Louisa b QE Mar 1870 at Chertsey, Surrey and a Mary b QE Dec 1871 at Maidstone, Kent. I know she died c1910 possibly Scarborough or Redcar, but I cannot find a record of her death either. On her marriage certificate (Oct 1894) and on my grandads birth certificate (July 1895) she is Mary Louise, not Mary or Louisa, and she was living at 75 Dale Street, Chatham, Kent when she was married. This is the address that her mother and father were still living at in 1901. Any suggestions please?

hi, [i owe you so many searches i needed to look !] on the 1881, it says william was a postman, what was his occupation in other census ? sue

Thanks Sue, but I think I am ok at the moment. It seems like Mary Louise is Louisa on the 1881 and Lucy on the 1891 censuses. It also maybe that her age was transcribed wrong on her marriage certificate from 23 to 25. If these are correct assunptions the birth certificate reference of Mary Hoeck in Maidstone in 1871 seems likely, so I have sent for it. Also Anna looked up her death for me as Mary Louise Yorke, aged 39 (in 1910), Scarborough, which ties in, so sent for that also. The strange thing about all this is that there are less than 20 Hoecks in each of the censuses checked (81,91,01), but she never appears as Mary Louise! Thankyou for everybody's help; I wait with anticipation for the arrival of the certificates!
