"There is a Central Index of Decrees Absolute granted by courts in England & Wales since 1858 held at the Principal Registry of the Family Division at First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, WC1V 6NP [tel; 020 7936 6000]. Anyone can search this for a fee, either to get a copy of the Decree, to find out whether they have been divorced by a spouse, or whether a friend or relative has been divorced." Bob |

I know its getting late, but Kerry has asked (for me, that is) a damned good question. How do you find records of divorces? I also have probs chasing down a divorce. Keep it nudged, folks, till we get a suitable reply. Luv, Derek in France |

Marion, It doesn't give a date on the second marriage certificate it just says formerly the husband of from whom he obtained a divorce. I do know it was between 1942 and 1948 but that's about it. |

Are you sure he wasn't bereaved as mine was? It would say on the second marrriage certificate if you haven't got that yet. |

Hi everyone, Can u help me? My grandfather was married in 1937 and again in 1949 so obviously he was divorced sometime in between. My question is where can I find out about this divorce? He was married in Coventry to his first wife. Thanks Kerry X |
