Good thought Although Mary Ann (mother) finished having her children 50 years before and the daughter Mary Newby had all her children by 1870. It seems odd that mother and daughter would die on exactly the same day.

I wasn't very clear Mary Ann Newby was born on 5.4.1804 and died 17.11.1887 and her daughter was born on 9.9.1827 and died on 17.11.1887.

Angela, do you have any idea where they are buried? Some of the cemeteries my ancestors are buried in (in Canada) have causes of their deaths. Is there a chance you could write to the cemetery and ask if they have any information? They may also tell you who is buried with them.

I think that as Margaret says just order the death certificates and put yourself out of your own misery. It is the only way to know! Write to GRO Southport or order on line giving the numbers that you have obtained. Cost £7.50 per certificate. Nobody said that Family History was cheap. If they died as a result of an accident you can find otut more from a local newspaper. Janet
