If I don't get past this brick wall I am afraid I will have to give up on this line of my great grandfather. Have been researching him for 5 years now! Talk about the illusive Pimpernel!

My g granddad was in the Buff 2nd 3rd of foot I think it was, we found him in the Muster Rolls at PRO at Kew, he was at Dover 1871 before they set sail for Ireland, we have since found a cousin has his little Book which tells of his movements. If he was in Africa he should have a medal, this should be documented. Not sure when I will be going to Kew again, very busy at the moment. Irene

I am trying to find the whereabouts of my great grandfather Corporal William Woodruff in 1871. There is a possiblity that he is in the East Kent Regiment of Foot Baracks in Farnborough Hampshire, as he was in the 2nd Battalion 3rd Buffs Regiment around this time. Or he could have been in Dover with his regiment. He lived in Hougham in 1881 when discharged from army. Sue Worrall kindly did a look up for me in Surrey but he didn't show up there. His child was born at South Camp Aldershot in 1870. His son then turned up in the above Regiment in 1891 so I think William could have been posted to this Barracks as well in 1871. Long shot!! I have the family in 1891 in Sheffield. I would love to find him in 1871. Many thanks in advance, Margaret
