Thanks Rosemary You have helped me on this before. I haven't taken it any further yet as I've been concentrating on another branch of my family. I've tried searching under every variation of Uscroft you can imagine, so perhaps your theory about the Boer War could be right. I'll ask my Grandad this afternoon. What years did the Boer War take place and are there any sites you would recommend? Jeanette |

I wondered if anybody had a spare 1901 credit left and could look up the following for me to see who else is in the household. Florence Uscroft, aged 20, Born Yorkshire Howden, AdminCo. Kinston upon Hull, Civil Parish Sculcoates, Occupation Laundress I'm hoping it will give me a clue to the whereabouts of her brothers. I'm meeting with family members this afternoon who are also trying to trace the Uscrofts. Thanks Jeanette |
