Can anyone tell me if Elizabeth Sharp (b.1880 approx.Cranford Northants) was ever married, if so who to ? The 1881 census shows her as a lodger at 9 Albion Road Kettering Northants. I also have Elizabeth Bromley (b.1830 approx.Ipswich,Suffolk) and residing at The Rectory, Harbledown Kent in 1881 as domestic servant. Then there's Elizabeth Bowyear, christened 24 October 1817 at Dilwyn,Hereford, daughter of Thomas Kyrwood Bowyear and Frances Jane. I'm working on a process of elimination with these three and hope I come up trumps. Mary Brooke

This is the only thing on VRI, but since it's the wrong end of Herefordshire and the father's name is wrong it seems unlikely. SMITH, John Marriage Wife: Elizabeth BOWYERS Marriage Date: 27 Jul 1849 Recorded in: Ross, Herefordshire, England Husband's Father: John SMITH Wife's Father: William BOWYERS Source: FHL Film 1040022 Dates: 1754 - 1888

Thanks Geoff. There might be a link there if I could establish where John Smith was born.Thomas Bowyear was born in Dilwyn according to the IGI and he was a Clerk in Holy Orders moving to Kent in 1881. Elizabeth Bromley was a servant there . I've got some water colours from an Elizabeth Sharp, done around 1830. They were passed on to my grandmothers sister in Cranford and then to me and I'm trying to discover exactly which one of the three Elizabeths did these and how they might have come into our family in Northamptonshire. Was Elizabeth Bromley once Elizabeth Sharp ? Or was Elizabeth Sharp from Cranford once a servant in that area.? Its all a bit of a puzzle. Many thanks for your help anyway. Mary
