Could someone possibly please try and decipher a number for me on 1837 I am stuck at the moment on the rest of my tree and want to order a certificate for my grandfather. It is the june quarter of 1909 for Charles E Gray. It has been hand written at the bottom of the page. Thanks Sue

Sorry i meant to say it is a birth. Godstone is the place were he was born, the little x on the page shows where it should be in the sequence of names.

Sorry I didn't even think about there being more than one page. It is on the second page of the only one with a choice of 2 (if that makes sense!) looking yet again at it I would probably agree with Ruth but still do not know how to enter it when applying for the certificate. Soooo frustrating.

Hiya.Ive been transcribing for freebmd and knew I had seen this somewhere, heres an example of what it means from FreeBMD site "In a handwritten entry at the bottom of the page, instead of a district, volume number and page number there's Lambeth See S/98 For the district, select Lambeth from the list but replace the volume number by a ? and in the page column the characters as seen, i.e. See S/98. Note: This means that the entry was not registered when it should have been and was recorded at a later date. The example here from an entry in 1874 means it was recorded in the September quarter of 1898, quite possibly when she needed her birth certificate to marry and the omission was discovered." does that make sense?lol In you case,It says see j / 31 which is june quarter of 1931 heres whats on june 1931 GRAY Charles E mothers maiden name Skinner Godstone 2a 405 Best Wishes Anna
