Hello Tracy I thought that maybe this was him, but when I look on the 1881 census he is still in the area of Sevenoaks with father Richard. My Richard by 1881 was living in St Pancras but unfortunately his father is not about, and that they were either pianoforte tuners or musicians. Many thanks anyway for your lookup Linda

I have been looking for a Richard Chantler b Kentish Town on his marriage cert in Dec 1881 he was aged 21. I have tried all manor of searches but Richard appears an evasive so and so. I have a feeling he may have travelled backwards and forwards to Kent mainly Gravesend, Medway from Marylebone. On his marriage cert it states his father was Peter MacGregor Chantler who is also being a pain in the you know what. If I can find Richard's birth cert then hopefully this will lead me to his father who I have been unable to find anywhere. Do people sometimes not want to be found? Many thanks Linda
