Hi people, Have been asked by a friend to see if I can find details of her parents marriage (they're both deceased). Problem is I don't have any experience of finding 20th century information (post-1901 census), so don't know where to start. Their names were Rose Mary CROFT and Ernest William THODY, it's believed they married in Bourne registry office (I don't know where Bourne is !) in 1952, give or take a year I suppose. Rose's DOB is 19.5.1920 (have no place of birth) Ernest's DOB is unknown, believed to be 1915 in Yorkshire ? Can anyone help ? |

St Catherine's Index ? (sorry to be dense, but haven't a clue !) Nr Spalding makes sense as the family was allegedly from Lincolnshire. |

hi paul, the st caths is on film. i use huddersfield library. but all the main ones have it. it is like the 1837 site, but on seperate reels. ie if you wanted births for 1899 you take the reel labelled so and it has every birth for that year broken down into quarters for all country. think i once read on here it was on line, but i never checked. am going off to look now and see what year the 1837 goes upto. sue xxx |

haven't used 1837 previously, as my main line I'm researchign is SMITH and it seem like it would be quite hard/expensive on there, but I might give it ago - if Anna isn't able :) Thanks |
